Tis the Season

For the second consecutive year, the Power Hour Christian Center in Ingram held its living nativity scene. There was a donkey, goats, sheep and plenty of good will.

A Kerrville nursing home, where 12 people died from COVID-19, was cited 16 times in 2020 for health code violations by Texas regulators. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission issued the citations on Oct. 31 to Waterside Nursing and Rehabilitation, where 89 patients were infected with the virus. An additional 40 staff members contracted the virus. While Waterside officials corrected the issues by Nov. 10 — at the height of the outbreak — state officials found that the nursing home had failed to do the following: Did not keep safe, clean and homelike surroundings. Respect the residents' rights. To post information relating to the total number of hours and actual time of day to be worked by RNs, LVNs and CNAs. Valerie Allman, track and field, discus, Team USA, a Stanford graduate, Allman resides in Austin, where she trains at the University of Texas. She was raised in Colorado.  Ariel Atkins, basketball, Team USA, plays professionally in the WNBA for the Washington Mystics. She was born in Dallas and was a four-year starter at the University of Texas. This is her first U.S. team.  Simone Biles, 24, gymnastics, Team USA, is the dominant gymnast in the field and is a four-time gold medalist. She also earned a bronze in 2016. She has won 19 world championships. A native of Spring, Texas, Biles is expected to be the favorite to repeat as individual all-around champion.  Trayvon Brommell, 26, track and field, Team USA, will be one of the most-watched athletes in Tokyo. Kerrville couple finds themselves in the middle of Capitol protests

A Kerrville couple was in the middle of Wednesday’s pro-President Trump protests at the U.S. Capitol Building, and they are the first to admit they were proud to be there.   Leigh and David Gibson flew to Washington D.C. on Tuesday to participate in rallies to support President Trump, who is still fighting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Of course, Wednesday was the day that Congress was going to certify the Electoral College but that was delayed when hundreds of people stormed the U.S. Capitol.   There has been plenty of blame placed on Trump for what happened at the Capitol, but the Gibsons see it differently.   “We are not incited by (Trump),” Leigh Gibson said. “We have done our own homework. We are not stupid. In fact, I left his speech early because he’s not telling us anything new. So, we headed out. We marched from the Washington Monument to the Capitol, and that’s when my mother called me and said they’ve breached the Capitol. We just kept marching....
